Dr Charlotte Hawkins BSc(Hons), PhD, DpodM, SRCh

 

Dr Charlotte Hawkins is a specialist in paediatric lower limb development, biomechanics and gait and holds a PhD in congenital abnormalities affecting the foot and leg.

Having studied at the University of Westminster and Sussex University Dr Hawkins began practicing in September 1990 from consulting rooms in Harley Street, London and over the past 22 years has gained an international reputation for treating children and adults with hip knee and foot pain.

Dr Hawkins many patients include members of the Royal Family, government, foreign leaders, celebrities, Olympic athletes, professional sportsmen and women. She has also worked in European countries studying the development of cad cam technology in the manufacture of orthoses. Her research extended into the design and development of leading golf shoe designs and manufacture.

Dr Hawkins liaised with Clarks shoes on a principle research, providing key information to the board, assisting children's shoe design and development. She has held directorship of two leading orthotic manufacturing companies and is the creator and designer of mothersteps (www.mothersteps.com) an orthotic that is successful in relieving back pain during pregnancy.

She is the founder and director of The Infant Club Foot Appeal Charity which has changed the lives of many children and their families in Africa, including training locals medics, facilitating new clinics, forming strong relationships with local official to bring about sustainable development and education in the community (www.infantclubfootappeal.org)
